Gasoline and diesel product specification compliance
SOCAR, the state-owned national oil and gas company based in Baku engaged in upstream, midstream and downstream activities, as well as in the supply of natural gas and the sale of petrochemical products in national and international markets, has awarded Tecnimont and KT-Kinetics Technology an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Lump Sum Turn Key Contract on an important part of the completion of the modernization and reconstruction works of the Heydar Aliyev refinery in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The aim of the project includes the installation of new grass roots units, as well as related auxiliary and storage facilities, aiming to increase the production capacity of the refinery to 7.5 million tons per year (MMTPA) in terms of Crude Distillation Unit, in addition to guaranteeing the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the products that will be used partly to feed Azerikimya revamped petrochemical plant and to produce Euro 5 quality automotive transportation fuels.
As part of the initiatives aimed at enhancing local content, in June 2018, Maire Tecnimont organized a workshop in Baku for local businesses called upon to collaborate in the project, in order to stimulate the local economy and the qualification of Azerbaijani suppliers at international level.
