Green Ammonia Production Capacity
Tecnimont has been awarded a contract for an integrated green hydrogen and green ammonia plant in Sines, Portugal. This project, led by MadoquaPower2X—a consortium including Madoqua Renewables, Power2X, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP)—marks a significant step towards green energy production in the region.
The project involves several critical phases. Tecnimont will design the integration of electrolyzers for hydrogen production, an air separation unit for nitrogen production, and the ammonia production plant. This phase will also cover the design of storage and ship loading facilities. Subsequently, Tecnimont will submit an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) proposal for the plant's construction. The project is expected to receive the final notice to proceed by March 22, 2024.
This project is poised to have a transformative impact on Portugal's energy landscape by establishing the first facility in Sines to produce green hydrogen and ammonia at an industrial scale.
