LDPE ETILENO XXI
PROJECT Tecnimont's Etileno XXI Project in Veracruz, Mexico, involves constructing a petrochemical complex with one ethylene cracker unit and three polyethylene plants, totaling 1,050 kta capacity.LDPE
The Etileno XXI Project consists of the development, construction and commercial operation of a petrochemical complex in Mexico: one cracker unit to produce ethylene from ethane and three polyethylene plants with an aggregate nominal capacity of 1,050 kta. The complex is located in the municipality of Nanchital de Lázaro Cárdenas del Rio, in the state of Veracruz (southeast Mexico).
Tecnimont carried out the FEED+OBCE and Engineering and Procurement activities for the realization of a 300,000 t/y Low-Density Polyethylene plant inside the complex, based on Basell’s Lupotech T technology.
The Etileno XXI Project represents the largest investment in Mexico’s petrochemical sector in the last 20 years. Access to competitively priced feedstock makes the Project one of the most competitive in the Americas. The Project serves the Mexican polyethylene market, which is rapidly growing and currently being supplied in part by imports.
Veracruz’s Etileno XXI was granted the Award of Merit in the Industrial category in Engineering News Record’s (ENR) 2016 Global Best Project competition. U.S.-based ENR is the landmark publication for the global engineering & construction industry, providing full data coverage about business management, construction methods, technology, as well as safety and legislation issues since 1917.
THIS PROJECT IS THE LARGEST INVESTMENT IN MEXICO'S PETROCHEMICAL SECTOR IN 20 YEARS, ENHANCING THE LOCAL POLYETHYLENE MARKET AND EARNING THE ENR AWARD OF MERIT IN 2016.
