IOWA FERTILIZER COMPLEX
PROJECT Tecnimont is building a greenfield fertilizer complex in Iowa, the first in the U.S. in over 25 years. Located on the Iowa-Illinois border, it features a 2,200 MTPD ammonia plant using KBR technology and a 2,200 MTPD urea synthesis plant designed by Stamicarbon.Production capacity
This worldwide scale plant, a greenfield fertilizer complex in Iowa, is the first to be built in the United States for over 25 years. It stands on the border between Iowa and Illinois and will have an impact on the agro-industrial chain of the so-called "corn belt" of the United States.
Tecnimont provided engineering and procurement services (on a Lump Sum basis) for the construction of a new ammonia plant with a capacity of 2,200 metric tons per day (MTPD) based on KBR technology. The scope of work also included Construction Supervision services as well as Engineering and Procurement services for the Utilities and Offsites units.
Additionally, Stamicarbon provided a Process Design Package for the Urea Synthesis plant with a capacity of 2,200 MTPD, within the same fertilizer complex.
THE PROJECT IMPACTS THE AGRO-INDUSTRIAL CHAIN OF THE U.S. "CORN BELT," PROVIDING ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT, AND CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION SERVICES.
